Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act (TEFRA)
When CalHFA proposes to issue Single Family and Multifamily Bonds, Federal tax law imposes a requirement that a public hearing be held by which the Treasurer of the State of California will approve the Bond issue. Public notice of the hearing must be published at least two weeks prior to the hearing. The TEFRA Hearing purpose is to allow interested persons an opportunity to express their views for or against the issuance of the Bonds.
